teaching should be fun!

This playgroup link was set up as a resource for parents, playgroup coordinators, & instructors. Our local playgroup is a good example how to blend music, early literacy, art & crafts, and sensory activities.

Our local Teller Early Intervention Colorado, which is a non-profit organization who helps children with special needs has been a good source for activities, and connects parents with local resources. If you are starting a playgroup or already run one, every county should have such an organization like Early Intervention Colorado that can come as special guests speakers to talk to your parents about development and answer questions they might have about their children.

If you are a local and would like to join our playgroup the classes are

For detailed monthly updated please (click here)

Our regular schedule is: the first hour we have a sensory station set up (water table / rice table / snow table / playdough / texture puzzles / fingerpaint etc.), an arts & crafts table, a painting station, and for the kids who aren't interested in those we have a large arrangement of toys we change weekly for a varied play experience. Children's music is played in the background for the kids to enjoy while playing. After that hour we have group clean up followed by snack time & storytime. (The parents sign up for the snack time). During snack we read a story or two then we end with circletime singing or music & motion for the remainder of playgroup. Parents are required to attend with their children, (this gives them time to visit with other moms). A weekly handout is given that has a recipe, song, activity, and an article on parenting strategy and survival. You can register by dropping by a group in your area during the scheduled playgroup time.  At least one fieldtrip is scheduled every month.
